5 Monthly Habits of an Organized Person

Welcome, 2024! I love the start of each new year because we have an excuse to reset. It’s examine our habits, set our intentions, and make changes for the better! Similarly, embarking on a new month offers a fresh opportunity to set the tone for the weeks ahead. Staying organized is the key to maximizing productivity and minimizing stress. In this blog post, we will explore practical tips and strategies to help you stay organized at the beginning of the month, setting the stage for success. Here are 5 ways to take a small amount of time on the 1st of each month to get it all in order.

A calendar is a powerful organizational tool. Whether you prefer a physical planner or a digital calendar, use it to mark important dates, deadlines, and appointments. Consider color-coding different activities or categories to enhance clarity. Set reminders to ensure you don't miss any crucial events. Develop a monthly overview that outlines your major commitments, projects, and milestones. Plan out any dentist, doctor, therapist, dog groomer, hair, nails, or facial appointments. Write them in a calendar. Include any parties, dinners, dates, or coffee with friends you have planned. It will make you feel so much better to see everything coming up and know that you won’t forget anything or be late. Time and piece of mind are our most valuable assets. You can’t get them back once they’re gone. It is important start each month with your time and your mind organized.

The beginning of the month is an ideal time to review your finances. Create a budget, track your expenses, and set financial goals for the month. This proactive approach can help you avoid unnecessary stress related to money matters in your home. Speaking of the home…

I’m not saying you have to scrub your home top to bottom every month (although wouldn’t it be nice if we all the the time to do it every month). What I mean by a home reset it to just do a quick tidy, and then get to whatever task you’ve been putting off. We all have those once a month or once every few months projects in our home that we can focus on during those monthly resets… you could refill all your soap dispensers, shampoo your couch, clean your dishwasher, wipe down baseboards and ceiling fans, or wash your throw pillow covers. Starting out with a tidier home, and accomplishing one task will set in motion and productive month.

Life is messy and busy. We all have receipts, trash, old chapstick, and other junk that finds its way into our everyday items. Whatever you use daily will naturally get messy. Clear those out and start fresh at the beginning of the month.

An organized physical space can greatly impact your productivity. Take some time at the beginning of the month to clear out the junk. A clean and tidy environment can contribute to a clear and focused mind. Pick one category that would take less than 30 minutes to purge. At the end of each season, clear out the seasonal clothes that you didn’t wear. Junk drawer getting out of control? Go through it. Linen closet getting too messy? Clean it out. Doing a little at a time keeps your home tidy and keeps you from getting overwhelmed.

Staying organized at the beginning of the month is a proactive way to enhance productivity, reduce stress, and achieve your goals. By implementing these tips and developing a personalized organizational routine, you can set yourself up for success and navigate each month with confidence and clarity. Remember, organization is not a one-size-fits-all concept, so feel free to adapt these suggestions to fit your unique preferences and needs. Happy organizing!
